Motorola Sholes/Droid Comes to Europe Too

Mobile phone maker Motorola is already known to plan on coming to the US market with a second Android-powered mobile phone, following the Motorola Cliq, which will soon come to T-Mobile and is already available for purchase in Europe as Motorola Dext, and now we learn that the handset might also come to the old continent in the near future. The device, dubbed Motorola Sholes (or Droid), has just made a short pit stop at FCC, bearing GSM connectivity.

Adobe Flash 10.1 coming to a smartphone near you, unless it’s an iPhone

adobe-flash-logoAdobe has been working to bring full Flash support to smartphones since last year, and it looks like things are finally coming to a head. Adobe has announced that its Adobe Flash 10.1 platform will soon be ready to stream video and interactive online content to a smartphone near you! Unless, that is, the smartphone sitting next to you happens to be an iPhone.

Palm WebOS 1.2.1 now available, ‘fixes’ iTunes media sync

The game’s back on. Palm just announced the availability of its 1.2.1 update to WebOS for the Palm Pre and, well, that’s it for the time being. It fixes Exchange mail syncing issues experienced by some users, which is nice, but for everyone else it re-enables media sync with iTunes 9.0.1, with or without the USB-IF’s support.

Truphone for Android reaches version 2.0

truphone-AndroidTruphone has recently unveiled a brand new version of its multi-network IM and VoIP application for the Android platform. The single most important change in Truphone for Android v2.0 is completely reworked user interface which makes the app easier to use. In addition, the code is tweaked (or completely changed – we’re not sure), resulting in faster and more responsive experience.

Truphone, however, remains the same at its core, providing users with the ability to make free or cheap phone calls (Google Talk and Skype are supported), as well as chat with their buddies from multiple IM networks — including Skype, Google Talk, MSN Messenger, Yahoo! Messenger, AIM and Twitter.

Want it? The new application is available for download from the Truphone’s website or from the Android Market.

SmartDevices SmartQ5a running Android

As we’ve seen before, SmartDevices’s SmartQ5 is a 4.3-inch mobile internet device running  Windows CE 6.0. Now over at eletroworld.cn, there is the SmartQ5a that runs the Android OS instead of WinCE, though we can’t find related information on the official site of SmartDevices.

The SmartQ5a is boosted by a Samsung ARM S3C6410 667MHz processor, 128MB RAM and 1GB flash memory. It supports Bluetooth and WiFi 802.11b/g and has a microSD card slot. There is also a USB 2.0 HOST port for connecting EDGE/HSDPA 3G modem. The device runs Android 1.5. It costs $199.99.

3 is asking its customers to act as ‘free agents’ and promote the operator on social networking sites in return for cash rewards.
The company will pay people who take part in the ‘3 Free Agent’ programme once the Sim cards are connected.

UK: O2 and Shazam team up for music discovery service

Shazam today announced that it has teamed up with O2 to make discovering and capturing music even easier for O2 customers.  The agreement will mean that anyone on O2 will benefit from an enhanced mobile music experience, discovering music with Shazam and then purchasing it through their mobile, on the move.

LG GW300: Talk to the Facebook

The GW300 is LG’s latest social networking phone which is aimed squarely at the Facebook crowd. The GW300’s wide candybar form incorporates a full Qwerty keypad and a 2.4-inch landscape screen. This should allow for a more natural Facebook experience as well as speedier typing than if you were using an alphanumeric pad or a touchscreen. A traditional five-way d-pad is also included for navigating the more typical phone features.

Ovi Store clients have now yet another reason to rejoice, as a brand-new feature is available for them on the software portal: re-downloads. What this means is that, in case one has downloaded one application, game or other content on a device and either upgrades the device or all data of the phone is lost, one can now download the content once again, based on the previous purchase.
