HTC Announces Smart
Posted by admin in AT&T, DEVICES, HTC, Mobile news on January 8, 2010
Although perhaps just a teeny tiny bit overshadowed by their recent release of the Nexus One, HTC has announced their first Brew handset, called the Smart. Complete with the Sense user interface found on Android and Windows Mobile, a 3 megapixel camera, 2.8” QVGA display, and 3.5mm headphone jack, the Smart is a modest package, but could do well to bring a smartphone-esque experience to those traditionally stuck in features phones due to price. No Wi-Fi, but that should help keep the Smart super-cheap. Worried this will be a sad excuse for a wannabe smartphone? Before you start speculating that this might be AT&T’s upcoming mystery Brew handset, the Smart is slated initially for Asia and Europe in the spring.

The HTC Leo has a lot going for it. The 4.3 inch hi-resolution display, Opera Mobile 9.7, one of the best physical QWERTY keyboards available, and the 1GHz Snapdragon processor are some of the great features found in the handset. But don’t forget about TouchFLO 3D. The UI allows you to keep some distance between the device and Windows Mobile and the newest version will be included in the Leo. For a look at the latest build of TouchFLO 3D 2.5, 1919, check out this video made by the guys at Pocketnow who took a ROM and put it on a TouchDiamond2. Some of the changes include a Twitter tab similar to the one seen on the Sense UI for the HTC Hero, a new calendar tab, a new e-mail tab with longer written preview, Facebook integration for photos and YouTube integration for videos and larger colorful icons to swipe.
